Praying, praying, praying...

I have had a long day for several reasons. One, I am exhausted from working last night and two I have been anticipating the arrival of Avery, the daughter of Shane and Carissa Keirsey, whom I have not met but feel like I have known forever. Avery was diagnosed prenatally with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and Double Outlet Right Ventricle. Miss Avery was born today at UAMS and whisked away to AR Children's Hospital for intense medical care for her complex conditions. Shane, Carissa, and Avery need prayers right now, Avery is being placed on ECMO (a heart and lung bypass machine) to give her little body a rest. The goal is to first fix her hernia and then concentrate on her heart. My prayer is that the Lord will lay His hand of healing on Avery and give her the strength to survive. I pray that He will watch over this family and give them the ability to be strong, I also pray for the doctors and nurses that are caring for Avery, I ask that the Lord give them the ability to provide the care that she needs and to guide them along with Shane and Carissa to make the best decisions for Avery. My heart goes out to anyone who has to watch their child go through this. It's a definite reminder of how lucky I am to have a healthy son.
